Janice Nathan has been an autism advocate for many years. She works as an advocate for parents of children on the autism spectrum, and as a consultant for school districts, where she recommends appropriate accommodations for children with communication disorders.
Janice works with wraparound teams to promote social communication and problem-solving skills for people on the autism spectrum.
Janice is a member of the Professional Advisory Council (PAC) for ABOARD’s Autism Connection of PA, which is a nonprofit autism education and advocacy organization, and a member of the Pennsylvania Association for Infant Mental Health (PA-AIMH). She is also a member of the prestigious International Society for Autism Research (INSAR).
Janice was the co-organizer for the Southwestern Pennsylvania High-Functioning Autism/Aspergers Adult Social Group from 2007 to 2010. She was also the co-organizer of the ABOARD-sponsored Social Group for Adults with HFA/AS from 2010 to 2012.
Janice currently runs Family Members of Adolescents & Adults on the Spectrum, an ABOARD-sponsored support group for parents and family members.
Janice gives regular presentations at ABOARD, Family Behavioral Resources (FBR), Parents in Toto, and many other autism organizations, covering a wide range of topics including speech-language pathology, social skills training, and autism advocacy.
